Iridology

Iridology

Iridology involves the examination of the iris – the colourful area of the eye around the pupil. An individual’s level of health and/or specific deficiencies in nutrition can be identified by examining the iris. From this diagnosis recommendations for suitable remedies and treatment regimes can be made.

The iris is made up of detailed fibres and pigmentation that mirrors the information about our physical and psychological composition. This identifies:

  • Genetic disposition – how you react to your environment & the symptoms most likely to appear
  • The risk areas – areas of the body or organ systems which are most susceptible
  • Potential challenges – the areas or organs which have the most potential to have problems as you age
Inherited emotional patterns that can cause/maintain physical symptoms are also identifiable using iridology; this can also include identifying lessons, challenges and/or gifts/talents that are available to you.

Iridology explained:

It is the scientific examination of patterns and structures in the iris, which can identify areas and severity of inflammation throughout your body. The coloured part of the eye (the iris) reveals many details of the body, including constitution, natural strengths and weaknesses, levels of health and any changes that take place in your body based on your lifestyle.

Origins:

Iridology’s origins can be traced back to the 1800’s. A Hungarian physician, Ignaz von Peczely (1826 – 1911) is credited with the invention of iridology. It came about when, as a young boy, he found and took care of an owl with a broken leg. He noticed a spot in the owl’s eye, he looked after the bird until it recovered and then rechecked the bird’s eye, and he then hypothesized a link between the spot and the broken leg – a theory he later tested on other animals. As a physician von Peczely had the opportunity to study the eyes of many patients. From this study his certainty of a relationship between iris markings and changes in the body and this lead to his development of the first iris chart – which is recurrently researched and updated over the years.

How it works:

Hundreds of thousands of nerve endings connected by impulses to every tissue in the body, brain and nervous system make up the iris. The nerve fibres respond to tissue/organ conditions consequent to physiological reflexes exhibit in the iris as lesions or colour variations. The basic placement of body organs and tissues are ‘mapped’ in the iris chart, compiled by many iridologists including Dr. Bernard Jensen. An accurate examination is completed by placing the chart over an iris image projection – allowing for a detailed analysis of the data recorded in the iris.

What do you see?

The completed observation will detail the level of your constitution (good or bad), depending on the density of the fibres, the patterns shown, the structures observed and the degree of lightness or darkness advise the intrinsic strength of particular areas in the body. Observations of levels of toxicity as well as nutritional and chemical imbalances can be made by studying the iris. The following issues can also be revealed:

  • The relative site of irritation, injury, inflammation and over activity
  • Areas that show degeneration of tissues

What you won’t see:

The diagnosis will not reveal or name a specific disease, it only provides indicators to areas whereby the body tissues are not at ease or have a tendency to conditions of discomfort, often before you become symptomatic. Surgery performed under anaesthesia will not be evident in the iris as nerve impulses are interrupted. The following cannot be diagnosed using iridology:

  • Location of parasites
  • Gallstones
  •  Bacterial or viral infection

It will, however, indicate inflammation or the presence of toxic conditions – which are pertinent to their development. Pregnancy is not indicated, as this is a normal function for females.

What it can do for me:

It has the potential to be an essential part of preventative health care. The ability to alert us of impending difficulties (signs of ‘dis-ease’) is a powerful tool.

Iridology allows us to conclude actions inside the body from a simple non evasive and painless vantage point. It reveals how well your body functions. Lack of exercise and bad nutrition undermine the body’s veracity until it is unable to reverse the damage caused through toxic conditions using its own natural healing abilities, thus increasing susceptibility to chronic ailments.

Nutrition and iridology are paramount to achieving a healthy way of life and a holistic health care approach and program. The study of the iris helps give understanding of our weaknesses, showing us the way to strengthen and cleanse ourselves to get the maximum health benefits. The awareness it brings shows us how to prevent illness – allowing us that to which we all aspire, attaining effervescent physical, mental and spiritual health.
